A report from your World War II Online community -- powered by Combat Stats & Records

special thanks to WillyTee

The date for the 'Beyond Blitzkrieg' launch party and first official WWII Online player convention has been set. Circle April 29th, 30th and May 1st on your calendar. Several hundred players have already said, "we're coming!". Watch for registration to open soon™

CONVENTION... "IT'S A GO"

The poll we ran two weeks ago had an overwhelming response from WWII Online players with several hundred expressing an interest in attending. The vast majority chose the primary dates of April 29th through May 1st.

At this time we are finalizing the accommodations and events and it appears we will be successful in obtaining at least 200 heavily discounted rooms at the hotel where the events will take place. If you are your squaddies are planning to attend, start making plans for room sharing if possible.

COMMUNITY REPORT
by BADGER & SHILLING

The following are excerpts from this week's WWII Online community report found in the official "Announcements" forum. In addition to reports from the Axis and Allies it contains the latest from the Training Corps, Customer Support, Special Events and more.

CAMPAIGN REPORT- The campaign has certainly shifted direction once again as the Axis Forces have obtained the momentum as they took it from the Allied Forces. Since the last Campaign report the Axis Forces have reclaimed Antwerp and Brussels as the Allied Forces held their ground in the southern area.

The campaign is moving forward and both sides have had their positive moments with the map moving west and east a couple of times. The Allied Forces and Axis Forces are putting up a good fight and this campaign is by no means over and both sides are pushing to claim this campaign as their victory.

AXIS REPORT- Our intelligence office have intercepted allied transmissions of a operation to be held over the weekend. I have sent down orders to all units that are designed to not only stop the enemy in their tracks, but to also finish this campaign off. All Axis Forces are ordered to stand at alert and to prepare for the victory ahead.

On other news, it is with great honor and pride that I accept the position of Oberbefehlshaber der Achsenmächte. This position has been filled by some of the best of the Axis Forces. It is my desire and plan to continue the proud tradition of leading the Axis Forces to VICTORY!!! As was stated my predecessor, this cannot be done by ANY individual, but by this proud and dedicated TEAM we know as Axis Forces!!!

Troper
Oberbefehlshaber der Achsenmächte

ALLIED REPORT- This is turning out to be one fine campaign. Once again the allied forces have stopped any advance by our axis foes. Stand strong together and we will be successful. As far as any updates the P38F is due in to service within the next day or two. I realize this has been a slow waiting process now is the time to go out and enjoy. With the teamwork presented daily and the equipment set we presently have we will soon™ moving into Germany.

Operation "Iron Will" will kick off tomorrow. Plans have been laid out and targets have been chose all that's needed is you. It's now time to break the axis moral for good. I will be at the helm of the attack and I ask that you join me for one "rocking" night. Details are posted at the AHQ Headquarters.

Supreme Commander
Allied Command

COMMUNITY NEWS & NOTES- There has been some talk in the community on a buzzword. In the real world one would probably call it a siege, while it has a different name in the community. Many of you know it, and some of you even have created different forms of it. This week we will discuss this and where it all fits into the puzzle.

Does WWIIOL measure damage to the main spar of aircraft? Does it reduce the G-holding capability based on the physics model thereof?
-Steck

Not yet, but that system is designed and waiting for us to get the time to implement it. Structural limits will allow us to apply damage to vehicle components in collisions as well as after excessive G forces.

Any possibilities of adding a communication tower in towns that controls EWS and when destroyed it eliminates the EWS completely until rebuilt such as similar to bridge objectives?
-Staxx

Great idea, when we implement radar we will more than likely tie it to destroy able objects in the game. At that point we'll have the technology to expand that idea, however EWS is designed to be a simulation of people seeing enemy units and reporting those sightings. While radar and more sophisticated systems will need to be made so that they can be "taken out" by combat ops, the basic EWS system reflects a much less mechanical process. Think of EWS as the farmers who live outside of town, who are loyal to the armies holding their city, reporting activity they see. We need to keep that level of reporting un-destroy-able to some degree.

After watching players fight for 3+ years, I believe it is time to rethink the death penalty. With very little reason to fear getting hit other than having to return to your spawn point and maybe that equipment isn't avaible. A way to instill the "fear of death" is needed. It would give a more realistic feel to combat.
-Satcher

How about everytime you die it costs you $14.99? Too much? Actually we are re-working the mission and scoring system to bring more depth to mission and sortie results. Your success in the battefield will have a lot more impact on your ability to not only spawn equipment, but also move through the RPG layer. In some rank groups it will be possible to slide backwards out of a rank level when your performance, or the performance of your unit (brigade) starts to slack.

What was the logic behind allowing precamping? The game went from a good game to utter trash in 48 hours or so.
-Shivax

You are the only one that allows pre-camping to happen, not us sir. There is no difference in the game engine that gives you any less warning than you have had for...well...a long time. If you ignore one of your towns becoming a front line city, you increase the likely hood of being ill prepared to defend it. If you ignore an incoming offensive firebase, you increase the likely hood of an enemy AO being placed on your city, and finally if you ignore EWS warnings you absolutely allow the enemy to enter your city unchecked. Now exactly how much more information did you want?
